Monster Island, the Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster, came out around the same date as Godzilla King of the Monsters. The film is about a mysterious, monstrous creature living on an island, which is in some ways the island itself.


To cut costs, only a handful of human characters are used in the film. The A-listers are kept on one set so that they can (mentioned here) all shoot sequences at lunch. We must not forget that this film is a kaiju film and it is basically about how those things work. So maybe The Asylum won’t be too disappointed with it.
